The Western Tragopan is found in the west of Himalayas, between 8000 and 12000 feet. Its habitat constitute of spruce, deodar and oak forests at the upper edges of the tree line. Palas valley is housing the only viable population in Pakistan.

Koklas has a distribution range from Afghanistan in the west to District Swat and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and extends eastward across Sirn and Kaghan valley into Kashmir. This species inhabits altitudinal range between 6000 feet and 11000 feet.

In Pakistan this species occurs between 8000 and 12000 feet. It inhabits a similar but less specific habitat type to the western Tragopan. In general the western tragopan and the Himalayan Monal occupy the same blocks of the forest and can observe together.

Kalij Pheasant inhabits the southern foothills of the Himalayan mountains and ranges from Pakistan in the west, across northern India and Nepal through upper burma.

Cheer Pheasants inhabits highland forest and scrub lands from 4000 to 10000 thousand feet. In Pakistan they are now extinct in most of their formal ranges and reintroduction programme has been launched through comprehensive breeding program in Dhodial Pheasantry.
